Donohue Ends Career With First-Team All-Ivy Distinction; Three Tigers Honored
November 24, 2009 | Women's Volleyball
After four years starting and two second-team All-Ivy honors, women's volleyball senior co-captain Sheena Donohue ended her career by earning first-team All Ivy League honors. She joins sophomore Cathryn Quinn and freshman Lydia Rudnick on the 2009 All-Ivy team.
After earning second-team All-Ivy honors in both 2007 and 2008, Donohue's brilliant play during her senior league season helped her to the first team. The Tiger co-captain led the Ivy League in total kills (390) and ranked second in kills per set (4.02). Donohue also ranked seventh in the league with 3.97 digs per set. Donohue earned a trio of Player of the Week honors throughout the season and was dominant during the final home weekend of her career, when she led Princeton to thrillers over both Harvard and Dartmouth.
Both Quinn and Rudnick earned All-Ivy honorable mention. Rudnick, a candidate for Rookie of the Year honors, ranked second on the team with 3.4 kills per set as a starting outside hitter. She led Princeton in aces and averaged 2.74 digs per set. Quinn, a sophomore and two-year starter at middle, ranked in the Ivy League top 10 in attack percentage and finished third on the team with 1.84 kills per set. She tied for the team lead in blocks (48) and averaged just below three points per set.
As a team, Princeton showed great resolve by bouncing back from a 2-11 start, including an 0-2 mark in the league, to win eight of nine matches at one point and finish third in the Ivy League standings.
