Women's Water Polo Sweeps Sunday Games

PRINCETON -- The Princeton women's water polo team completed a four-win weekend with wins on Sunday against Brown and Wagner. The Tigers outlasted Brown 11-9 in overtime in the morning, then took a 4-3 win over Wagner in the day's final game of the Princeton Invitational.
Following a back-and-fourth first half in the day's first game, Princeton raced to a four-goal lead over Brown at 8-4 in the third quarter. Brown stormed back, tying the game at 8-8 early in the final period before the team's traded goals in the final 10 seconds to force overtime.
Sophomore Sarah Hutchison put Princeton up 9-8 with 10 seconds remaining but Brown quickly countered and evened the game on Sarah Glick's goal with two seconds on the clock. That goal forced overtime and Princeton got goals in each of the two sessions for the 11-9 win. Junior Helen Meigs and sophomore Tanya Wilcox had the overtime goals.
Meigs led the team with three goals, while Wilcox and junior Phoebe Champion each added two. Sophomore Christina Michel stopped 10 Bear shots for the win.

Princeton closed the weekend with a one-goal win over Wagner in a low-scoring game. The Tigers trailed 3-2 at the half, but were able to shot down Wagner over the final 16 minutes and rally for the win. Princeton scored once in each of the final quarters, including Hutchison's goals early in the final period, to claim the 4-3 win. Junior Carolina Ardila, senior Kara Murphy and Meigs also scored in the win and freshman Kristen Ward made 13 saves.
