Fox, Eddy and Hollimon Qualify for Regionals at Ellis Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/18/09) ? Junior Ian Fox, sophomore Mike Eddy and freshman Austin Hollimon of the Princeton men's track and field team qualified for the NCAA Regionals at the Larry Ellis Invitational, held on the Princeton campus on April 17-18.
Fox recorded his best mark of the season in the high jump, reaching 2.10 meters.
Eddy won the 400-meter dash with a time of 46.72, and Hollimon cruised in behind him at 47.01 for fifth place. Hollimon second in the 200 at 21.49, nearly qualified missing out on the mark by three tenths of a second.
The Tigers swept the medals in the 1500-meter run on Saturday with junior Tim Brangian taking top honor with a time of 3:55.62. Freshman Nick Thomas was second at 3:55.70, and senior Collin Plummer was third at 3:55.79.
Senior Ian Thomson was third in the 400-meter hurdles as he posted a season-best time of 53.53.
In the 200-meter dash, freshman Ricky Kearney recorded a personal-best with a time of 22.11, while teammates Andrew Usoro and Luinis Tejada posted their best times of the season.
Twelve Tigers competed in the 800, with Plummer posting the best time of the group clocking in at 1:52.88. Thirteen Tigers entered the 1500, with freshman Trevor Van Ackeren coming up with the best time, at 3:47.83.
Senior Alex Pessala won the hammer throw with a measure of 66.85 meters. Sophomore Craig Pearce threw his best hammer of the season, reaching 58.50 meters, for fourth place.
Sophomore George Abyad took third in the discus with a throw of 48.91 meters, and later placed fourth in the shot put at 16.30. Freshman Patrick Park and senior Tim Lanni followed in fifth and sixth place.
In the pole vault, junior Chad Faulkenr took third clearing 4.75 meters.
The Tigers will compete at the Penn Relays next week in Philadelphia.
