Women's Shuttle Hurdle Takes Ninth at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA (4/24/09) ? The Princeton women's track and field team competed in two relays and one field event on the second day of the Penn Relays on Friday, April 24 at Franklin Field.
Sophomore Bianca Williams was the solo competitor for the Tigers. She placed 17th in the Eastern triple jump, reaching 11.34 meters.
The Tigers were ninth in the Championship of America shuttle hurdles. The relay which is rare in collegiate track, consists of four hurdlers on a team that run in the opposite direction of the proceeding runner. Representing Princeton were sophomores Bianca Mathabane, Lauren Barber, KC Wade and freshman Melissa Tassone.
The 4x200 relay took seventh in the sixth heat with a time of 1:42.56. The time placed them 46th out of 53 squads competing in the event.
Princeton will compete in the Championship of America 4x800 on Saturday, April 25 at 2 p.m.
