Men's Water Polo Announces Incoming Class

Princeton water polo coach Luis Nicolao has announced the four student-athletes that will join the men's water polo team next fall as the Class of 2013. The group is comprised of three Californians?Augusto Leal, Billy Tifft and Tim Wenzlau?and Pennsylvanian Jack Ruth.
Augusto Leal, Attack, Davis, Calif., Davis
Leal attended Davis Senior High School and was a member of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Championship team as both a freshmen and senior. Leal served as the team's captain as a senior and was named the team's Co-MVP in a season he in which he scored 83 goals. Leal was also awarded the Division 1 CIF Section Player of the Year, was a Sacramento Bee All-Section team member, and was a third-team All-America. Leal also was a member of the Davis Water Polo Club for several years and competed in the Junior Olympics.
Jack Ruth, Center/Center Defender, West Lawn, Pa., Wilson
Ruth was a four-year starter for Wilson spending most of his time playing at the 2-meter position. As a senior, Ruth recorded 113 goals on 201 attempts for a 56% shooting percentage. He also drew 98 ejections, had 48 assists and 77 steals. As a junior, Ruth was selected a first-team All-America and was named to the Academic All- America team. Ruth was the captain of his high school team and was named the Pennsylvania state Player of the Year. Ruth has also been a member of the Northeast Zone National Team and has competed in the Junior Olympics.
Billy Tifft, Center Defender, San Diego, Calif., The Bishop's School
Tifft played three years of varsity water polo at the The Bishop's School. There, Tifft was a member of a two-time CIF Division 2 Champion and won the CIF Sportsmanship Award in 2008. Tifft also played for San Diego Shores Water Polo Club and was a silver medalist at Junior Olympics in 2007 and 2008.
Tim Wenzlau, Attack, Palo Alto, Calif., Palo Alto
Wenzlau earned All-America and Academic All-America as a senior at Palo Alto High School. He was also his team's Most Valuable Player as a junior and senior and captained the team as a senior. He was also a first-team All-CCS honoree. Wenzlau also played for the Stanford water polo club, and was a member of a third-place finishing team in the 18 and under division at Junior Olympics.
