Lydia Rudnick Repeats As Ivy Volleyball Player Of The Week
October 12, 2010 | Women's Volleyball
While the Princeton women's volleyball squad has used a strong team effort to race out to a 3-0 start in the Ivy League, sophomore Lydia Rudnick has stood out as the Tigers' top hitter in each of the three matches. Her efforts in a sweep of Brown and Yale earned Rudnick a second straight Ivy League Player of the Week honor.
Rudnick shared Player of the Week honors this week with Penn's Amanda Pacheco, who also helped her team to a sweep of Brown and Yale.
Rudnick earned Player of the Week honors after recording 4.11 kills and 1.67 digs per set. Against Brown, the sophomore outside hitter collected her third 20-plus kill match of the season, finishing with 21 kills to go along with seven digs and three block assists as the Tigers came from behind to force a fifth set, then powered their way to a 15-4 win in that decisive set for the 3-2 win.
One day later, Rudnick tallied 16 kills, eight digs, one service ace and two blocks as Princeton remained the lone unbeaten in the Ivy League with a 3-1 win over Yale.
On the season, Rudnick is averaging a League-best 4.12 kills per set, which also ranks 29th in the nation.
Princeton will host Harvard (Friday, 7) and Dartmouth (Saturday, 4) this weekend at Dillon Gym. It will be Dig Pink weekend at Princeton.
