Rudnick Continues Historic Month With University, League Honor
October 19, 2010 | Women's Volleyball
A spectacular month for both sophomore outside hitter Lydia Rudnick and her volleyball teammates continues, as Rudnick claimed her third straight Ivy League Player of the Week honor. She also earned her first GoPrincetonTigers.com Athlete of the Week honor.
Rudnick led Princeton to a home sweep of both Harvard and Dartmouth to stay as the lone undefeated team in the Ivy League. Rudnick, who broke into the national Top 20 in kills, averaged 5.5 kills and hit .324 for the weekend; her highlight performance was a 32-kill effort in a 3-2 comeback win over Harvard. She averaged 2.6 kills, .8 blocks and .4 assists over the weekend and ended up scoring a team-best 49 points.
Rudnick has won or shared Ivy League Player of the Week honors during every week of league play. She has helped Princeton to five Ivy wins over the last three weekends, including victories over each of the last two league champions (Yale in 2008, Penn in 2009). She has also helped the Tigers rally for key league matches; during the 5-0 Ivy start, Princeton has trailed 1-0 three times, 2-1 three times, 2-0 once and has had to win a fifth set three times.
Princeton will make its first full Ivy road trip this weekend when it heads to Columbia Friday at 4 p.m. and Cornell Saturday at 5 p.m.
