Field Hockey Falls Late at #11 Penn State

PRINCETON (10/24/10) - A late goal from Jessica Longstreth on a penalty stroke lifted 11th-ranked Penn State to a 1-0 win over the fifth-ranked Princeton field hockey team on Sunday afternoon.
Following an even opening half, Penn State put the pressure on Princeton in the second half, firing 14 shots on the Princeton goal in the half and converting in the 57th minute on the penalty stroke.
Penn State outshot Princeton 18-7 in the game and had 12 penalty corners to Princeton's five. Princeton goalkeeper Christina Maida made six saves, while the Tigers got defensive saves from Alexandra Douwes and Amy Donovan. Ayla Halus made four saves in the Penn State goal.
The loss drops Princeton to 11-4 overall. Princeton is back in action next Saturday at Cornell.
