Women's Squash Sweeps Brown To Remain Undefeated
December 05, 2010 | Women's Squash
The Princeton women's squash team knew it would have plenty of challenging matches during the second half of its season, and it certainly couldn't afford and slips early on. The Tigers showed terrific focus Saturday, sweeping all 27 individual games in a 9-0 victory over Brown in Providence.
The Tigers are now 4-0 overall, 3-0 in the Ivy League. Princeton got wins from all four of its freshmen, including a 1, 4, 1 win from Libby Eyre at the No. 3 spot; Eyre had missed the previous two matches. Senior co-captains Jackie Moss (No. 2) and Nikki Sequiera (No. 7) were both victorious as well.
Princeton's most dominant player was sophomore Casey Cortes, who dropped only three points in her 1, 0, 2 win at the No. 8 spot. Members of each class won at least one match for Princeton Saturday.
"We had a bit more firepower then Brown today," head coach Gail Ramsay said. "Julie Cerullo was hitting well, keeping the pace up and her opponent felt the pressure. Alex Sawin had a slow start but won the first game 12-10. She was overhitting a bit but took some pace off the ball and tightened up her rails."
Princeton will complete the 2010 portion of its schedule Sunday when it takes on both Williams and Middlebury at Williams College.
