February 20, 2010 | Women's Water Polo
PRINCETON (2/19/10) - The 20th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team began its 2010 season with a resounding win as the Tigers bested Gannon 21-5 on Friday night at DeNunzio Pool.
Phoebe Champion led the Princeton offense with six goals in the win, matching a career high, while Lauren Brunner added four more goals and a host of others added single goals in the win. Grace du Pont, making her first appearance in goal, stopped 10 Gannon shots.
Princeton's 21 goals tied for the fifth highest scoring output in program history and was Princeton's highest goal total in nearly 10 years, dating back to a 21-5 win over Bucknell in the 2000 season.
Princeton is now 1-0 and will take on fifth-ranked Michigan and Colorado State tomorrow as the Princeton Invitational gets underway at DeNunzio Pool.
