#5 Michigan Defeats Women's Water Polo Team 13-10

PRINCETON (2/20/10) -- The 20th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team faced a tough test on Saturday morning and dropped a 13-10 decision to fifth-ranked Michigan at DeNunzio Pool in the second day of action at the Princeton Invitational.
Carolina Ardila, Lauren Brunner, Phoebe Champion and Brittany Zwirner all scored two goals in the loss, while Saranna Soroka and Tanya Wilcox add single goals. Princeton led 1-0 and 2-1 in the openeing quarter on goals from Champion and Soroka, but Michigan evened the score at the end of the frame and built a 6-3 lead at the half.
Michigan extended its lead to as many as six goals in the fourth quarter before the Tigers closed the gap over the final five minutes, getting within two goals at 12-10 before Michigan got the final tally.
Grace du Pont made 10 saves in the loss, her second-straight 10-save performance. The Tigers are now 1-1 and host Colorado State later tonight.
