February 24, 2010 | Women's Water Polo
Du Pont was named the Southern Division's Player of the Week. An attacker who appeared in seven games during her freshman season, du Pont was called into service as a goalkeeper following an injury to Kristen Ward in the preseason and minded the pipes for the first two games of the season.
Against Gannon in Princeton's season-opener, she stopped 10 shots to help the 20th-ranked Tigers roll to a 21-5 victory and the first collegiate win of her career. A day later, she got the start against fifth-ranked Michigan and again blocked 10 shots as the Wolverines escaped with a 13-10 victory.
Zwirner earned Southern Rookie of the Week honors after scoring seven goals in her opening weekend of play at the college level. She scored two goals apiece in the team's games against Gannon, Michigan and Brown, while adding one on a 5-meter shot against Colorado State. She also had three assists and five steals.
Du Pont, Zwirner and the Tigers return to action again this weekend at DeNunzio when they play host to the ECAC Championships. Princeton opens the event against Iona.
