Women's Water Polo Team Advances to ECAC Championship Game

PRINCETON (2/27/10) - The Princeton women's water polo team jumped to an early lead and didn't look back in defeating Maryland 10-5 in the semifinals of the ECAC Championships on Saturday night at DeNunzio Pool.
Helen Meigs and Lauren Brunner gave Princeton a 2-0 lead in the first quarter and the Tigers continued to pull away, leading 6-1 at the half and 8-3 after three quarters. Phoebe Champion and Brunner led Princeton with three goals each. Champion scored two from a hole set and one on a counter, while Brunner had a natural goal, a hole set goal and a man-up goal.
Kristen Ward made eight saves in the win. Princeton advances to the ECAC Championship game on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Princeton will face Brown or Marist.
