GREENSBORO, N.C. (3/14/10) - UNC Greensboro scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth to rally for a 4-3 walk-off win over the Princeton baseball team on Sunday afternoon.
Trailing 1-0 in the second inning, Princeton jumped on top 3-1 in the game with a three-run second inning, using four runs and a Spartan error to plate three runs. Jon Broscious singled in the first run and Noel Gonzales-Luna doubled in a pair.
Gonzales-Luna was one of three Tigers with two hits in the game, joining Matt Bowman and Sam Mulroy, who scored the first Tiger run after singling in the second inning.
After Princeton scored to take the 3-1 lead, the scoreboard remained silent until the Spartans plated three runs in their final at-bat. UNCG loaded the bases with one out. The Spartans then scored one run on a groundout and the tying and winning runs on Brad Raynor's pinch hit single through the left side of the infield.
Ray Quinones plated a run for the Spartans in the top of the first inning with a sac fly.
David Palms allowed just two hits and an unearned run in seven and two-thirds innings. Matt Grabowski took the loss allowing three runs in an inning of work. Colby Hyatt got the win in relief.
Princeton and UNCG conclude their three-game series Monday night at 6 p.m.
