Women's Water Polo Tops CSUSB for Fourth Straight Win

LOS ANGELES (3/19/10) - The 20th-ranked Princeton women's water polo team ran its win streak to five games by topping Cal State San Bernardino 7-4 and Sonoma State 17-2 on Friday at the LMU Invitational.
Tied 3-3 at the half, Princeton scored four straight goals during the third and fourth goals to build up the final margin in a game that Princeton never trailed. Tanya Wilcox and Helen Meigs tallied first quarter goals to give Princeton a 2-0 lead and Cari Levine gave Princeton a 3-1 lead when she scored an exclusion goal before CSUSB scored the final two goals of the half to draw even.
Phoebe Champion scored the only goal of the third quarter and two quick goals from Carolina Ardila in the final quarter put the Tigers ahead for good. Champion added the final Princeton goal in the win. Kristen Ward made nine saves for the win.

The Tigers completed the sweep with a 17-2 win over Sonoma State in the nightcap. Princeton led 6-0 after a period and never looked back in winning its fifth straight game. Princeton led 16-0 in the game before Sonoma State scored two late goals.
Nine Tigers scored in the win, led by four from Champion, three of which came in the opening period. Ardila added three goals, while Cayley Bowles, Katlin Poladian and Meigs each added two goals.
