Women's swimming and diving head coach Susan Teeter led Princeton to its ninth Ivy title in 11 years with a wire-to-wire championship last weekend. Princeton had the challenge of heading to Blodgett Pool, home of the defending champion Harvard Crimson, and battling both a deep Crimson squad and an upstart Yale program for the league title. While Princeton was again led by its senior co-captains Alicia Aemisegger and Courtney Kilkuts, it was the overall team depth that guided the Tigers back to the top of the league.
Fred Samara, the head coach of the men's indoor track & field team, felt his team was a slight underdog to defending champion Cornell heading into the meet. He left it thrilled with what he considered one of the best total team performances during his highly successful tenure. Strong showings up and down the roster led Princeton to a 32-point win over Cornell at the 2010 Heptagonal championships.
In a preseason talk with TigerCast, fencing head coach Zoltan Dudas expressed optimism about the direction of both of his programs. Over the last two weekends, his teams proved that optimism was well-founded. Both the Princeton men and women won their first Ivy League championships since 2001 with undefeated records during the 2010 Ivy League Championship round robin.
Peter Farrell knew his team would be in for a tough weekend against strong programs like Cornell and Columbia, but a great showing at HYP two weeks earlier proved that his team was plenty capable of competing with the best. The Tigers showed that again in the biggest weekend, winning seven events and scoring key late points Sunday to hold off the rest of the field and follow its 2009 cross country title with a win in the 2010 Heptagonal championship.
