Foster Earns First Team All-America Honors, McCormick Breaks Program Record on Day One in Eugene

EUGENE, ORE. – Greg Foster earned First Team All-America honors in the long jump and Connor McCormick set a new record in the 1500m on day one of the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore.
Three other Tigers also earned Second Team All-America honors in Joey Gant, Brian Boler and Jackson Shorten.
Foster placed fourth in the long jump, clearing 8.03m/26-4¼ to earn his third First Team All-America honors as he caps off an illustrious Princeton career.
Fellow senior Connor McCormick will advance to Friday's 1500m final after executing a tactical race in the prelim.
Pacing himself while in sixth to start the race, McCormick moved up to third going into the bell lap. In the final turn, McCormick made another kick to take the lead.
Crossing the line at 3:35.81, McCormick set a new PB and a Princeton record while securing his spot in the final.
Falling just short of the finals, several Tigers had strong performances on day one.
In a heartbreaker 400m, Joey Gant came within .04 seconds of qualifying for the finals as he clocked in at 45.60 for 10th place. Still, he earned Second Team All-American status - his first individual All-America honors.
Brian Boler and Jackson Shorten had solid finishes in the steeplechase, clocking in at 8:32.09 and 8:33.39 respectively. They were two of the first four to not advance to Friday, but their performances were good enough to earn them Second Team All-American distinction.
In the 4x400 relay, Jonathan York, Kavon Miller, Xavier Donaldson and Gant earned Second Team All-America honors with a 14th place finish in 3:04.02. Miller led the Tigers with a 45.26 split.
Jacob Nenow also earned All-America Honorable Mention status with a 22nd place finish in the 10,000m (28:50.76).
