Baseball Team Swept by Elon in Doubleheader

Game 1 (Box Score)
Elon took the first game of the day 10-2 behind strong pitching from Jared Kernodle. The Phoenix built a lead of 10-0 in the game behind a five-run third inning and a three-run sixth.
Princeton got both of its runs in the seventh inning when Brandon Englert homered, plating himself and Brian Berkowitz, who had led off the inning with a walk.
David Palms took the loss, allowing six runs in six three innings. Kernodle scattered two hits in six shutout innings for the win.
Game 2 (Box Score)
Elon scored 14 runs over the second, third and fourth innings to build an insurmountable lead in an 18-8 win in the nightcap. Brandon Englert and Sam Mulroy each had three hits in the loss with John Mishu driving in a pair of runs.
Englert and Brian Berkowitz each hit solo homers in the loss as Princeton plated eight runs on 12 hits with a pair of doubles and home runs. Mulroy scored three runs in the game.
Princeton plated single runs on the seven and third innings, and put four runs on the scoreboard in the fourth inning to make the score 9-6 at the time. The runs came from a Berkowitz homer, a two-run double from Mishu and a run-scoring base hit from Nate Baird.
Langford Stuber took the loss allowing nine runs in three innings. Kevin Link and Alex Flink also pitched in the loss.

Princeton completes its opening weekend tomorrow afternoon against Bucknell.
