Baseball Falls to Bucknell in Weekend Finale

ELON, N.C. (3/7/10) - The Princeton baseball team could not overcome an early 5-0 deficit in a 10-4 loss to Bucknell on Sunday afternoon at the Elon Invitational. Jon Broscious homered and drove in three runs in the loss.
Bucknell jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the game with five runs in the top of the second, the big hit a two-run homer from Bob Donato. Princeton got two runs back in the bottom of the second when back-to-back groundouts by Nate Baird and Matt Connor plated runs.
The Bison extended their lead with a run in the fourth and two more in the sixth inning before the Tigers added two more runs in the eighth inning as Broscious homered after a Brian Berkowitz single.
Matt Bowman made his first start and surrendered five earned runs in three and two-thirds innings of work. Ryan Makis, Ross Staine and Matt Grabowski also pitched in the game. Jack Boehm pitched five innings for the win.
Princeton fell to 0-4 with the loss. The Tigers begin their Spring Break trip next weekend with a three-game series at UNC Greensboro beginning on Saturday.
