Women's Track & Field Sends Groups to California & Florida

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/14/10) - Members of the Princeton women's track and field team will compete at the Mt. Sac Relays and the Tom Jones Memorial Classic this weekend.
The Mt. Sac Relays will be held in Walnut, Calif., on April 15 and 16, while the Tom Jones Classic will be on the campus of the University of Florida on April 17.
The Tigers will send selected distance runners out west.
Senior Reilly Kiernan and junior Sarah Cummings will run in the 10,000 Invitational event on Thursday at 7 p.m. The two enter the 26-person race with two of the top three seed times. Cummings boasts a personal best of 35:27.53 and Kiernan a 36:05.16.
Senior Alexa Glencer will run in the 5000 Olympic Development race on Friday at 9:10 p.m. She enters the race with a personal best time of 16:57.94.Junior Ashley Higginson and sophomore Alex Banfich will take on the 5000 Open A with 42 other runners at 9:45 p.m., on Friday. Higginson owns a personal best time of 16:22.56 in the 5000, and Banfich has a 16:54.01 personal best time.
Four other athletes will compete at the Tom Jones Classic against athletes from Brown, host Florida, Florida Atlantic, Kentucky, Princeton, South Florida, UCF and UCLA.Sophomore Eileen Moran will run in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Moran won both events last weekend at the PYP and boasts personal bests of 12.2 and 24.6 respectively.
Freshman Tory Worthen will compete in the pole vault. The Heps and ECAC indoor champion, Worthen has cleared 4.11 meters (13-5.75) in her best time out.
Juniors throwers Thanithia Billings and Emma Ruggiero will take on the shot put and hammer throw, respectively. Billings set a new personal best of 14.89 meters (48-10.25) in the shot at the Sam Howell Invitational. Ruggiero has continued to rewrite her personal best each weekend and has launched the hammer to 57.71 meters (189-04.00) in the PYP last weekend.
In addition, Princeton hosts the Larry Ellis Invitational on April 16-17.
