Tom Jones Memorial Invite Results
PRINCETON, N.J. (4/17/10) - The Princeton women's track and field team sent clusters of its best athletes to California and Florida to compete at the Mt. Sac Relays and the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational.
The distance runners headed to Walnut, Calif., where they had a successful weekend. Junior Sarah Cummings won the 10000-meter run at 33:55.91, beating out 18 other runners and was two seconds faster than the second-place runner from Providence. Her time currently ranks 13th in the nation.
Sophomore Alex Banfich and junior Ashley Higginson went 1-2 in the 5000-meter run. Banfich clocked in at 16:00.40 to win the race and Higginson took second with a time of 16:02.32. Their times are currently the fourth and fifth best times in the nation.
At the University of Florida, junior Emma Ruggiero took third in the hammer throw with a mark of 55.13 (180-10).
Sophomore Eileen Moran raced in the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Moran clocked in a 12.02 in the 100 to finish 11th and 24.48 in the 200 to finish 12th.
Freshman Tory Worthen finished third in the pole vault. She cleared 3.97 meters (13-00.25) her best mark of the season.
Junior Thanithia Billings won Flight A of the shot put with a mark of 15.05 (49-04.50) to place seventh overall.
