Rowing Coaches Look At Eastern Sprints In Latest Edition Of TigerCast
May 13, 2010 | Women's Rowing - Open, Men's Rowing - Lightweight
With Eastern Sprints upcoming, head coaches Lori Dauphiny (open women) and Marty Crotty (lightweight men) join the latest edition of TigerCast.
Dauphiny will lead the No. 2 Princeton open crew into the EAWRC championships this Sunday on Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. Princeton has the top-seeded boat in both the varsity eight and varsity four, as well as the second seed in the second varsity. Dauphiny is well aware of the depth and progress of the Eastern field and talks about how open and exciting Sunday's competition should be.
Crotty will make his debut as head coach in the EARC championships this weekend on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass., where Princeton will enter as the second seed behind Harvard. The Tigers, who won both the 2009 EARC and IRA titles, saw their 20-race win streak snapped by less than one second against Harvard May 1, and both programs will enter the weekend as favorites; however, men's lightweight crew is noted for its parity, and there are several other programs looking for a big race.
