Women's Volleyball Welcomes Five Into Class Of 2014

Women's volleyball head coach Jolie Ward recently announced the five standouts who would join her program in the fall as the Princeton Class of 2014.
Sydney Brombal, Kelsey Janke, Leah Jordan, Chelsea Parker and Christine Renschler will be members of the 14-time Ivy League champion women's volleyball team when the 2010 season begins. They will help replace four graduating seniors, including first-team All-Ivy outside Sheena Donohue and co-captain Taylor Carroll.

Sydney Brombal

Corona del Mar
Before Princeton — two-time all-league honoree … lettered three years for Corona del Mar, where she played outside hitter, right side and middle blocker … played for the top team in the Orange County Volleyball Club for eight years … led Orange County to first place at the Volleyball Festival in Reno … led Corona del Mar to Pacific Coast League titles each year of her high school career and to the CIF finals in both 2008 and 2009 … also led high school to California semifinals twice … two-time captain.

Before Princeton — earned all-state and all-region honors for Cactus Shadows High School … played club volleyball with Spiral 17s, Arizona Juniors 16s. Zia 15s, Black Mountain Juniors and Summit 18s … has played outside, right side and defensive specialist … led high school team to two state finals, including one as a senior captain … led Spiral 17s to silver division at nationals.

Before Princeton — earned two all-state honors as a primary middle for Plant High School … earned all-conference and Times All-Suncoast honors … helped high school team to No. 2 ranking in ESPN Fab 50 ranking in 2008; ranked in top five during 2009 as well … team finished fourth nationall in 2008 … played for Tampa Bay Juniors club team and placed fifth in 2008 Junior Olympics … club team also placed third in AAU nationals in the 17s division … averaged 4.5 blocks per match as a junior and ranked fifth in state in blocks as a senior … led Plant to four straight state championships, including one as a senior co-captain … also lettered in track & field and placed second in 800m relay district final … 2009 Academic All-America honoree … received a National Merit Commendation.
