PRINCETON (7/8/10) -- The 2010-11 Princeton women's hockey schedule was recently announced by Princeton head coach Jeff Kampersal. The schedule features 22 ECAC Hockey games and seven non-conference games against teams from Hockey East and College Hockey America. Princeton went 13-14-4 last season and finished fifth in the ECAC Hockey standings.
Princeton will open the season on Oct. 15 with an exhibition contest at Baker Rink with McGill and then host Brown and Yale the following day in a round-robin scrimmage to prepare for its first regular season games a week later.
The Tigers will start the regular season on Oct. 22 at Northeastern. The game is one of five against Hockey East opponents for the Tigers, who will also visit Providence a day later as part of the team's season-opening road weekend. Princeton will also play two games at Boston University Thanksgiving weekend and host Boston College on New Year's Eve at Baker Rink. Princeton's final two non-conference games are against Syracuse at home the second weekend of December.
The remainder of the Princeton schedule is comprised of its 22 ECAC Hockey games. The league season kicks off for the Tigers on Oct. 29 and 30 at home against Colgate and Cornell, and the Tigers visit Quinnipiac, Rensselaer and Union a week later. Princeton also hosts Dartmouth and Harvard and travels to Cornell and Colgate prior to Thanksgiving.
Princeton will host Yale and Brown the first weekend in December in between its series at Boston University and its series against Syracuse. The Tigers then have a 20-day layoff during the holidays before returning to action against Boston College on Dec. 31. Three days later, Princeton will host Quinnipiac and then visit Clarkson and St. Lawrence during intersession before the final exam break.
The Tigers come out of the break alternating home and road weekends over the final month of the regular season leading into the playoffs. Princeton's final home weekend comes Feb. 11 and 12 when Union and RPI visit Baker Rink and the Tigers wrap the regular season the following weekend at Brown and Yale.
The top-eight ECAC finishers will qualify for the ECAC Tournament, which begins the following weekend with best-of-three quarterfinal series at campus sites.
