Watson Stops Six but Pride Posts 1-0 Win in Women's Soccer
September 19, 2010 | Women's Soccer
The Tigers best chances came in the first and last minutes of the game. Princeton (3-3) broke down Hofstra (6-1) up the middle and sophomore Jen Hoy passed junior Sara Chehrehsa who had an open look from 15 yards out. Chehrehsa launched the ball on target but keeper Krista Thorn was able to make the save.
Hoy again was involved in the opportunity in the final minute when she caught a breakaway. Unfortunately she pushed the ball a bit too far in front of her and the attempt went out for a goal kick.
Laura Greene scored the lone goal for the Pride just three minutes into the second half. Tiffany Yovino fed Salma Tarik the ball and Tarik blasted the ball in on goal. Watson made the stop but couldn't collect the ball as Greene got to the loose ball and tapped in the rebound.
Hofstra outshot Princeton 13-6 in the game. Thorn made three saves in the first half and was replaced by Emily Morphitis in the second who finished with one save.
Princeton had a 2-1 edge in corner kicks and was not called offsides once in the game, while Hofstra got five calls for offsides.
