Bartlett Ends Duke Tournament with Win for Women's Tennis

DURHAM, N.C. -- Hilary Bartlett won her consolation singles match Sunday as one of three women's tennis Tigers competing on the final day of the Duke Invitational.
Bartlett, ranked 49th in the nation by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, defeated Bhavani Tirumurli of Purdue 6-2, 6-3 in the "C" singles flight to end her participation on a winning note. The victory comes a day after Bartlett and Taylor Marable, ranked eighth in the nation as a doubles team, took the tournament's third-place title in the "A" doubles flight. In her own singles consolation match Sunday, Marable was not as fortunate, coming up short against North Carolina's Jennifer Stone by a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 final in the "B" flight.
Rachel Saiontz represented Princeton in the "A" singles flight, dropping her last match to Alaina Trgovich of Wisconsin, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.
The Tigers split the weekend between the Duke and Columbia tournaments, and Monica Chow and Sarah Hoffman closed a successful weekend in Manhattan Sunday. Each won her singles flight, Chow taking the "A" flight with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Joanna Zwirbulis of St. John's, and Hoffman winning the "B" flight by defeating Daniela DePaoli of Penn 6-1, 6-0. The pair fell 8-6 in the doubles final against Alexa Ely and Jaime Yapp-Shing of Penn.

Next weekend, the Tigers will compete in the Cissie Leary Invitational in Philadelphia.
