Tennis Teams Head for Weekend of Ranked Competition
January 27, 2011 | Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis
Both Princeton tennis teams will face tough competition this weekend, with the men's team at home and the women traveling to Florida.
The men's team will open its dual-meet season Saturday in Jadwin Gymnasium against No. 71 Penn State (2-0), which has already defeated St. Bonaventure and Lehigh last weekend. The Tiger men return eight players from last season's team that took the Ivy League race into the final league weekend. Joining them will be three freshmen, Augie Bloom, Dan Richardson and Dan Davies.
Princeton's women (1-0) opened their season Wednesday with a 6-1 win over Rutgers and will head to Tallahassee, Fla., to compete in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend. The Tigers will open at 2 p.m. Saturday against the No. 14 Seminoles (1-0) and will face either No. 16 Texas (1-0) or No. 24 Washington (2-0) Sunday at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. The winner of the foursome will advance to a 16-team tournament at Virginia beginning Feb. 18.
