Weber Earns Second ECAC Goalie of the Week Award
January 04, 2011 | Women's Ice Hockey
The win is part of an impressive string that Weber is putting together as the junior goalie has now shut out three straight opponents and has blanked four of the last five teams she has faced. Last Friday against Boston College, Weber made 24 saves in blanking the Eagles that included a period high of 12 in the second.
Weber's shutout of Quinnipiac on Monday did not count towards the award, which was for games played in the week ending Jan. 2, 2011. With the Quinnipiac game, Weber now has a 186:39 shutout streak. Her goals-against has fallen to 1.78 and her save percentage now stands at .926.
Weber's shutout streak is the fourth longest in Princeton women's hockey history behind Roxanne Gaudiel (277:39), Liz Hill (249:34) and Kristen Young (235:43). Hill had four shutouts in her streak, while Young, Gaudiel and Weber each had three.
The award was Weber's second weekly honor in less than a month. She and her Princeton teammates close out their intersession schedule this coming weekend with a trip to St. Lawrence and Clarkson.
