Siow, Spindler Win ITA Regional Doubles Title

Matt Siow and Matt Spindler completed a five-day run through a 64-duo ITA Northeast Regional bracket Tuesday afternoon as doubles champions.
In winning their semifinal and final matches on the event's last day, knocking off Yale's Daniel Hoffman and Marc Powers 9-7 in the first match and Harvard's Alistair Felton and Casey MacMaster 8-5 in the second, Siow and Spindler gain one of 20 national berths in the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championship. The event will be held Nov. 3-6 at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, N.Y.
The pair, both juniors, will be the first Princeton presence at the ITA National Indoors individual event since 2001, when Kyle Kliegerman '01 and John Portlock '01 gained a doubles berth.
Siow and Spindler will be one of 12 regional champions at the event, with the other eight spots being filled with those who advanced via the ITA All-America event earlier this month, the USTA/ITA National Small College Championship winner and four wild card or at-large berths.
The National Indoor Intercollegiate evnt will run concurrently with Princeton's final fall tournament, the Cornell Invitational Nov. 4-6 in Ithaca, N.Y.
