Chuck Dibilio Picks Up Program-Best Third Ivy Rookie Of The Week Honor
October 24, 2011 | Football
Harvard came into Saturday's football game allowing an Ivy League-low 55.4 rushing yards per game, and the Crimson hadn't allowed a 100-yard rusher all season. Princeton freshman Chuck Dibilio earned his third Ivy League Rookie of the Week honor this season by rushing for 135 yards and two touchdowns in his Harvard Stadium debut.
Dibilio is the first Princeton football player to earn Ivy League Rookie of the Week honors three times in one season. He is the first offensive player to earn as many as two in one season; the only other two Princeton players to earn the honor twice were specialists Taylor Northrop (2001) and Colin McDonough (2003).
Dibilio gained 243 all-purpose yards in the 56-39 loss. He gained 135 yards on 22 carries, a 6.1 average per carry, and he scored on runs of nine and 42 yards. He added five catches for 65 yards and two kickoff returns for 43 yards to give him a career-best all-purpose total.
He now has 536 rushing yards this season, a Princeton freshman record and the second-highest single-season total for any Princeton runner of the last six years.
Princeton will return to Powers Field at Princeton Stadium Saturday at 1 p.m. when it takes on Cornell.
