Volleyball Enters Final Weekend Needing Wins, Help In Ivy Championship Chase

The Princeton women's volleyball team enters the final weekend of the regular season with goals it can control. The Tigers want to win their final two matches and send their senior class out on a high note. Of course, if it can get a little help up north, this could become one of the most magical weekends in program history.
Princeton enters the weekend with a 16-8 record overall and a 9-3 mark in the Ivy League. The Tigers are currently tied for second in league play with Columbia, who scored a 3-0 home win over Princeton earlier this season. Should both teams win Friday night (Princeton hosts Cornell at 7, Columbia travels to Penn at 7), they would play for second place Saturday at 5 in Dillon Gym.
Unless, of course, Harvard helps out Friday night.
The Crimson, which owns a home win over Columbia this season, will host Yale Friday night. The Bulldogs, who rallied to a 3-1 win over Princeton last weekend, lead the Ivy League with an 11-1 record. If Harvard could pull the Friday upset, it would lead to a very interesting Saturday.
At that point, Yale would be 11-2 and traveling to Dartmouth for a 5 p.m. start. If the Bulldogs won that match, they would still clinch the Ivy title outright. If they lost, however, they could end up sharing the title with the winner of the Princeton-Columbia match at Dillon.
Regardless, Princeton will be looking to honor its seniors Saturday, as the trio of Hillary Ford, Cathryn Quinn and Michaela Venuti will be playing their final match at Dillon Gym. Both Ford and Quinn are four-year starters who produced tremendous numbers throughout their careers, while Venuti was a two-year starter at setter before injury knocked her out for most of her senior year.
