Siow, Spindler Fall in ITA National Doubles Event

Matt Siow's and Matt Spindler's run in the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Doubles Championships main doubles draw came to an end Thursday morning as the Princeton tennis pair fell to the second-seeded Ohio State duo of Chase Buchanan and Blaz Rola 8-5 in the round of 16.
The Buckeye pair was ranked No. 3 in the country in the ITA preseason poll.
Siow and Spindler had qualified for the event by winning the USTA/ITA Northeast Regional last month, gaining one of 20 national berths in the main doubles draw. It was the first time since 2001 that Princeton had a presence in the USTA/ITA national indoor event.
The Princeton pair will play a consolation doubles match Friday at 10:30 a.m. against the consolation draw's top seed, the Maryland duo of John Collins and Maros Horny. The Terrapin pair were defeated by a Duke duo 8-4 in the main draw's first round Thursday.
