PRINCETON, N.J. (12/28/11) - The Princeton
women's hockey resumes play after taking a three-week hiatus for the holidays to play a set at Ohio State on Friday, Dec. 30 & Saturday, Dec. 31 at the OSU Ice Rink.
Ohio State leads the series, which began in 1999, 5-4. The teams last played in 2006, when they split a pair of one-goal games at Baker Rink.
Princeton enters the weekend with a 6-9-1 overall mark. The squad lost a pair of games to its travel partner Quinnipiac the last time out on Dec. 9 & 10. The Tigers are led offensively by a trio of sophomores. Sally Butler has seven goals and seven assists for 14 points, Denna Laing has six goals and seven assists for 13 points and Olivia Mucha has four goals and six assists for 10 points. Senior Paula Romanchuk and freshman Ali Pankowski add eight points apiece. Senior Rachel Weber has played every game in goal and has a .923 save percentage and a 2.20 goals against average.
Ohio State is 9-7-2 on the season and lost its last two games to Minnesota on Dec. 10 & 11. The Buckeyes are led by senior Natalie Spooner with 15 goals and six assists for 21 points. Fellow senior Laura McIntosh has a team-high 14 assists and seven goals for 21 points as well. Sophomore Ally Tarr has 14 scored eight times and has six assists for 14 points. Junior Hokey Langan and freshman Taylor Kuehl have 11 and 10 points, respectively. Sophomore Lisa Steffes has started in goal in 12 games and has a .906 save percentage and a 2.67 goals against average. Classmate Chelsea Knapp has played in six games and has an .860 save percentage and a 3.70 GAA. The Buckeyes average 2.72 goals per game and are allowing 3.11. They are 10 for 72 (13.9%) on the power play and 67 for 85 (78.8%) on the penalty kill.
