Women's Water Polo Opens 2011 Campaign With Two Wins on Saturday

Sophomore Brittany Zwirner led all Tigers with four goals in the two games. She was one of four to score goals in both games along with classmate Rachele Gyorffy, senior Lauren Brunner and freshman Katie Rigler.
Princeton opened the day with a 9-4 win over George Washington in the afternoon. Seven Tigers scored in the win with Zwirner and Gyorffy leading the offense with two goals apiece. Princeton started slow in the win, scoring once to lead 1-0 after a quarter and then held a 3-1 lead at the half.
Junior goalies Kristen Ward and Grace du Pont split the game, with Ward earning the win following a five-save first half. Du Pont made four saves in the second half.

Princeton was back in the water in the evening to take on Brown and picked up a convincing 12-1 win. Princeton held a shutout through halftime in the win as eight Tigers registered goals. Freshman Molly McBee led the team with three in the game, while Zwirner netted two along with senior Lauren Brunner. Ward made seven saves in three-plus quarters of action to pick up the win, while du Pont made two saves in less than a quarter of play in goal.
