Tigers Nearly Break 4-Minute Mile at The Armory
February 20, 2011 | Men's Track and Field
NEW YORK (2/19/11) - Feeling hot after last weekend's HYP meet, a handful of Princeton men's runners went to The Armory in hopes of posting their fastest times in the mile.
Sophomore Peter Callahan ran a personal best of 4:01.03 just two weeks after running 4:04.39. Senior Mark Amirault ran 4:01.91, seven seconds faster than his time from the GaReat Meet two weeks ago. Also running a personal best was junior Donn Cabral with a time of 4:03.03 while senior Kyle Soloff ran 4:06.62.
Callahan's time was the fastest in the Division I this weekend. Amirault's time is the third best from the weekend, and Cabral ran the fifth fastest time in the nation this weekend.
"I'm very excited about the progress the guys are making," coach Steve Dolan said. "They are working hard and dreaming big. This strong effort in the mile is a great sign for the future."
Princeton will be competing for its second straight indoor title at the Ivy League Heptagonals this weekend Feb 26-27, held on the same track in New York City.
