Rigler Named Southern Rookie of the Week

PRINCETON (3/1/11) -- Princeton freshman Katie Rigler was named the CWPA Southern Division Co-Rookie of the Week on Tuesday following her eight goal weekend as Princeton finished third at the ECAC Championships.
Rigler led the Tigers with eight goals in three games as Princeton defeated Wagner and fell to eventual tournament champion Maryland before stopping Harvard in the third place contest. Rigler contributed three goals, two assists and a steal against Wagner, before chipping in three goals, an assist, a steal, an ejection drawn and a field block versus Maryland. Facing Harvard in the third place game, the Tigers coasted to victory behind the play of Rigler who tacked on two goals, a steal, an ejection drawn and a sprint victory to aid Princeton to the win. Rigler shared the Rookie of the Week award with Kate Woods of Brown.
Rigler's award is Princeton's third weekly award in two weekend's of action. Brittany Zwirner and Kristen Ward were the Player and Defensive Player of the Week following Princeton's opening weekend.
Rigler and the Tigers return home this weekend a round-robin weekend at DeNunzio Pool. Princeton will host games against Indiana, George Washington and Hartwick while Maryland Marist will also be playing games here this weekend.
