PRINCETON, N.J. (4/18/11) - The Princeton men's track & field 4x400 relay of Russell Dinkins, Austin Hollimon, Tom Hopkins and Mike Eddy has earned Princeton Athlete of the Week, presented by Coach USA.
The relay recorded a program and Ivy League record at the Tom Jones Invitational at the University of Florida, running 3:07.57.
The time is better than the time of 3:08.47 set by Justin Reed, Brian Shields, Richard Stewart and Michael Kopp in 2005, which was the previous best program time, and the previous Ivy record of 3:08.0 set by Cornell's 1967 relay.
The time is 11 seconds faster than the relays best time this outdoor season.
The relay also earned Hepstrack Male Athletes of the Week, while freshman Damon McLean was named the HepsTrack Male Rookie of the Week
McLean won the triple jump at the Tom Jones Memorial Invitational at the University of Florida on Saturday. He reached 15.40 meters (50-6.25) to win the event. It is the best mark in the Ivy League this season, two feet further than any other competitor. McLean is also third on the league's long jump list (23-10.75) this outdoor season.
