Women's Lights Continue Perfect Season With Home Sweep Of Bucknell, MIT
April 02, 2011 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
The top-ranked Princeton women's lightweight crew was not going to let the momentum of last week go away in its lone home race of the 2011 season. Princeton swept both No. 6 Bucknell and No. 7 MIT in a Saturday morning regatta on Lake Carnegie.
"We feel that our crews' times from today were pretty solid, as a gusty north wind had kicked in by the time we raced and conditions were not fast," head coach Paul Rassam said. "We took another step in the direction we are looking to go, and it was great to see our seniors from both boats win their last races on Lake Carnegie."
The Princeton varsity eight, coming off victories over reigning EAWRC champion Wisconsin and IRA national champion Stanford last weekend, won its third and fourth races of the season with a victorious time of 7:02.8. Bucknell finished second in 7:18.9, while MIT took third in 7:42.4.
The Princeton 2V, which went 2-1 last weekend, was also successful Saturday. The Tigers posted a winning time of 7:44.9, while Bucknell finished second in 7:55.0 and MIT took third in 8:16.4.
Princeton will take next weekend off before heading on the road to take on its two biggest Eastern rivals. That stretch will start April 16 when Princeton takes on Georgetown.
