Women's Track & Field Captures Three Events at TCNJ

EWING, N.J. (4/30/11) - The Princeton women's track & field team won three events and had eight finish in the top five at The College of New Jersey Lions Invitational on Saturday, April 30.
Freshman Clare Gallagher won the steeplechase, junior Bianca Reo won the pole vault and the 4x100 posted a victory.
Gallagher beat out 13 other competitors to win the steeplechase. She finished the race in PR of 10:46.12. Gallagher was the only runner to finish in under 11 minutes, as she was more than one minute ahead of the second-place finisher.
Reo cleared 3.50 meters (11-5.75) to win the pole vault. Teammate freshman Sara Rubin took sixth with a mark of 2.90 (9-6.25).
The 4x100 also captured a victory, clocking in at 47.25.
Freshman Chelsea Cioffi earned third and fourth place finishes in the throws. She was third in the discus out of 31 competitors with a throw of 39.80 (130-07), and was fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 43.72 (143-05). Both throws were her best marks this season.
A pair of seniors earned top-five finishes in their respective events. KC Wade was second in the high jump, as she cleared 1.61 meters (5-3.25) and Brooke Russell finished fifth in the 1500 at 4:48.81.
Four Tigers finished in the top 10 amongst 41 in the 100. Junior Eileen Moran was the runner-up at 12.26. Sophomore Abidemi Adenikinju was fourth at 12.45, sophomore Erin Guty was ninth at 12.60 and freshman Lily Miller was 10th at 12.80. Miller also earned a third-place finish in the 200 at 25.70.
In the 100-meter hurdles, senior Bianca Mathabane was the runner-up touching the tape at 14.36. Freshman Beth McKenna was 10th at 15.71, her best time of the season.
Freshman Jasmine Blocker and junior Bernie Da Costa both earned seventh-place finishes in their respective events. Blocker ran 59.84 in the 400 and Da Costa completed the 800 in 2:21.26.
This was Princeton's final tune-up before the Ivy League Heptagonals. Yale will host the Heps next weekend, as Princeton tries for the coveted Ivy League trifecta.
