Giordano Sets New Ivy Record, NCAA #1 In Discus as Tigers Host Rider

PRINCETON, N.J. – Layla Giordano set a new Ivy League record and a current NCAA-best mark in the discus as the Princeton women's track and field team opened up the home outdoor action against Rider on Tuesday night.

Giordano threw a whopping 59.94m / 196-8", besting the league record of 59.75 set by Harvard's Milina Wepiwe last year. On the current NCAA list, she topped LSU's Princesse Hyman's 59.90m to claim the top collegiate spot.

Showing out on a warm mid-week evening in Princeton, the Tigers picked up six other event wins on the night.

Princeton went 1-2-3 in the 800m, with Olivia Martin claiming the top spot with a time of 2:09.32.

Maddie Cramer was behind her at 2:13.18 and Sofia Lieberman took third with a time of 2:18.94.

Meg Madison and Emma De Jong claimed the top two spots in the 1500m, running 4:24.27 and 4:25.65, respectively.

In the sprints, Maisha Atkinson and Alex Kelly went 1-2 in the 100m, running 12.01 and 12.02 with just a hundredth of a second separating the two Tigers.

Georgina Scoot claimed first in the 200m, running 24.40 for a top-10 spot in the Princeton all-time leaderboard.

Julia Jongejeugd (13.92), Giselle Kirchner (14.31) and Ava John (14.38) also swept the 100m hurdles with the top-three times.

Laila Payne also ran 58.49 in the 400m hurdles for third place all-time in Princeton history.
