Three Advance after Day 1 of the NCAA East Regional

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (5/27/11) - Three members of the Princeton men's track & field team advanced to the next round as the NCAA East Regional got underway today on the campus of Indiana University.
Junior Austin Hollimon and freshman Tom Hopkins will advance to the quarterfinals of the 400-meter dash after both finished in the top 24 in the first round. Hollimon was fourth in heat 1, and 21st overall, with a time of 47.87. Hopkins was fourth in heat 6, 23rd overall at 48.90. The pair advances to the quarterfinals on Friday at 5:45 p.m. Senior Mike Eddy also competed in the 400 and posted a time of 48.90.
Sophomore Russell Dinkins also advances after the first round of the 800. He was third in heat 4, and was 15th overall clocking in at 1:50.34. The quarterfinals will be held tomorrow at 6:45 p.m.
Junior Joe Stilin ran 3:52.90 in the 1500, to finish 35th and classmate Patrick Park was 31st in the shot put with a mark of 16.34 (53-07.50).
In addition to Hollimon, Hopkins and Dinkins, three other Tigers will compete tomorrow. At 11 a.m., senior Craig Pearce will take part in the hammer throw. Junior David Slovenski will compete in the pole vault at 6 p.m., and junior Donn Cabral will run the steeplechase at 9:10 p.m.
