Men's Track Places Six on All-Academic Team

NEW ORLEANS (8/10/11) - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the men's 2011 Division I All-Academic Track & Field team. Earning the honors for Princeton are senior Mark Amirault, sophomore Peter Callahan, senior Mike Eddy, senior Dion Lehman, junior Nilan Schnure and junior Trevor Van Ackeren.
Amirault qualified in both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Indoor he ranked 23rd in the nation in the mile with a time of 4:00.26; 94th in the 3,000 at 8:09.29; and had two distance medley relay times in the top 44 nationally. During the outdoor season, Amirault competed in the 5,000 reaching the NCAA championship race and placing 12th at 13:54.51.
Callahan, who did not compete outdoors due to an injury, had a time of 1:48.66 in the 800 which situated him 24th in the nation, while his time of 4:01.03 in the mile ranked 36th.
Eddy competed in both the 400 and the 4x400 relay during the NCAA outdoor championships. The relay finished the season 12th in the national semifinals. During the indoor season, Eddy's DMR was ranked 19th nationally, while the 4x400 was 31st.
Long jumper Lehman ranked 92nd in the nation during the indoor season with a mark of 7.31 meters (23-11.75).
Schnure and Van Ackeren both qualified as a members of the DMR that ranked 44th during the indoor season. Van Ackeren additionally was in a relay that was listed 19th.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 in a relay event; for the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships.
