Men's Track & Field Wins Saturday Night at The Armory Meet

NEW YORK (1/14/12) - The Princeton men's track & field team won the Saturday Night at The Armory I meet on Saturday, Jan. 14, finishing in front of 14 other squads.
The Tigers scored 134 points while Rutgers finished second with 115 and Hampton had 97.
Sophomore Tom Hopkins won the 60-meter hurdles crossing the line at 8.32. He later took second in the 400 with a time of 48.33, to give his team 18 points. Freshman Rob Mohr was the runner-up in the hurdles at 8.34.
Freshman Bradley Paternostro won the 1000 cruising in at 2:28.98 and classmate Connor Martin was third at 2:31.42 as the pair presented its team with 16 points. In the next distance race, the 3000, sophomore Chris Bendtsen posted a winning time of 8:12.88. The Tigers got second and third as well. Sophomore Alejandro Arroyo Yamin ran 8:19.88 and sophomore Jonathan Vitez clocked in at 8:21.76.
Princeton took places 2-9 in the mile, however only the top four times would count towards the team total. Junior Peter Callahan was the runner-up with a time of 4:03.76, just 0.19 seconds out of first place. Senior Joe Stilin was third at 4:04.37 followed by senior Trevor Van Ackeren (4:08.03), sophomore Michael Williams (4:11.64), junior Michael Palmisano (4:12.77), senior Thomas Dialynas (4:16.00), sophomore Tyler Udland (4:16.34) and freshman Eddie Owens (4:16.67). It was an impressive feat as a total of 35 runners competed in the mile.
Senior Dave Slovenski once again had an incredible mark in the pole vault, clearing 5.15 meters. Freshman Adam Bragg took third with a mark of 4.55.
Senior Patrick Park was the runner-up in the shot put throwing to 15.57 meters (51-1). Freshman Scott Rushton was fourth with a mark of 14.73 (48-4). The high placement gave Princeton 13 points.
Also earning points for the team was senior Ivan Charbonneau in the 60-meter dash, sophomore William Brown in the 3000, and sophomore Shane Molidor and freshman Stephen Soerens in the long jump, the 4x4 of Kashif Smith, Daniel McCord, Jordan Sawadogo and Ricky Kearney.
Princeton will head back to the Armory next Saturday to compete in the Saturday Night at The Armory II.
