Sheehy Named Ivy League Player of the Week

Rachel Sheehy's first two-assist game of her career at Princeton helped the Tigers to an important 3-1 victory over Harvard Saturday night, and it has also won her the Ivy League Player of the Week.
Princeton, at 5-0 in the Ivy League for the first time since 2004 and on an eight-match winning streak, has now had players selected four times this season for Ivy League Player of the Week awards and once for an Ivy Rookie of the Week honor. It is the first such honor in Sheehy's career.
Sheehy had an assist on Princeton's first goal, putting a corner kick in play that senior classmate Caitlin Blosser headed home for a 1-0 lead in the 61st minute. After Harvard tied it, Sheehy helped Princeton regain the lead by putting a free kick in the goal mouth for Gabriella Guzman to slide-tackle into the net.
Sheehy won't have to wait long to build on her Ivy award, and she will get to do so even closer to home when the Philadelphia-area native heads south with the Tigers to take on La Salle, a team on a 10-match winning streak, Monday night at 6:30.
