Coomans Earns NWSL Combine Invite
December 19, 2025 | Women's Soccer
The Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year, a first-team All-Ivy Leaguer, a United Soccer Coaches third-team All-East Region honoree, and a second-team All-ECAC selection, Princeton senior Drew Coomans competed at the NWSL Combine in Bradenton, Fla., this week.
Up to 60 players earned invites to the event, which succeeded the NWSL's draft after the league moved away from the selection format in 2024. Princeton had six alumnae on NWSL rosters during the 2025 season, including Tyler Lussi and Heather MacNab with the North Carolina Courage, Pietra Tordin with the Portland Thorns, Aria Nagai with the Utah Royals, Madison Curry with the Seattle Reign, and Tyler McCamey with Gotham FC and then the Kansas City Current.
Coomans switched from forward to defender for the 2025Â season and started all 17 games, helping hold opponents to 1.4 goals per game over the season and just 0.43 goals per game over a season-ending seven-game stretch that saw Princeton rally its way to the Ivy League title and into the Ivy League Tournament final. Coomans' 1,407 minutes were second-most on the team this season.
Coomans kept her contributions to the offense as well, notching four assists to finish just one behind her career high of five, set each of the last two seasons, while also scoring a goal in an Oct. 11 game against Cornell.
