Kendall Peterkin Shares Ivy League Rookie Of The Week Honor
October 30, 2012 | Women's Volleyball
Freshman Kendall Peterkin ranks second in the Ivy League in both kills and points, and she earned her first League Rookie of the Week honor after helping to keep the Princeton women's volleyball team in the Ivy race with a huge weekend looming.
In sweeps of Dartmouth and Harvard last weekend, Peterkin averaged 3.7 kills per set and hit .354 to pace an efficient Tiger offense. She hit .435 with 12 kills and only two errors against a Crimson team that pushed the Tigers to five sets earlier this season. She also recorded a double-double (10 kills, 10 digs) in the victory over Dartmouth.
Peterkin is the top-ranked freshman in the Ivy League in both kills (3.25) and points (3.82); only two other freshmen are in the Top 10 in either category.
Princeton is now hoping that a perfect weekend (and a little help) can put it right back atop the Ivy League standings. The Tigers are currently 8-2 in the Ivy League and host Brown Friday, followed by a 5 pm Saturday showdown with undefeated Yale. A Princeton sweep, coupled with a Penn victory over Yale Friday night, would leave both Princeton and Yale tied for first place entering the final weekend.
