Ward Named CWPA Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week

Senior women's water polo goalie Kristen Ward has been named the CWPA Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week announced Tuesday, as she was a key contributor in helping the No. 20 Tigers go a perfect 4-0 at the Princeton Invitational to open the 2012 season.
Ward started three games over the weekend, seeing 77:05 minutes of action. Over that span, Ward tallied 26 saves, two steals and an assist, while only allowing 10 goals. In the cage on Feb. 12 versus Colorado State, a squad who received votes towards a national ranking entering the weekend, she tallied 12 saves, including four in the fourth quarter, to help secure Princeton's 6-5 win over the Rams.
The nationally-ranked Tigers next head to Lewisburg, Pa. to participate in the two-day four-game Bucknell Invitational from Feb. 18-19. Princeton will face Gannon, Marist, Siena and Wagner in their first road trip of the young season.
