No. 19 Women's Water Polo Remains Undefeated with Victories over Marist and Wagner

Behind an early point cushion and strong defensive line, the No. 19 Princeton women's water polo team defeated Marist 11-7 to open up action at the Bucknell Invitational. The Tigers employed a similar strategy versus Wagner in the afternoon to extended their winning ways and earn a 14-6 victory over the Seahawks to close out day one action at the weekend tournament. Princeton is now 6-0 on the year.
Molly McBee struck first for Princeton to help the Tigers take control early and a 5-2 lead after the first two quarters of play versus Marist. Princeton's defensive line prevented the Red Foxes from finding an offensive surge to even the score, as the Tigers closed out the game outscoring Marist 6-5.
Camille Hooks led the Princeton offense with three goals, while Jessie Holechek, McBee and Audrey Zak each contributed three steals apiece. In the cage, Kristen Ward had eight saves, two assists and a steal.
In game two versus Wagner, the Tigers jumped out early in the first quarter to take a 5-2 lead. Their early momentum would carry through the remainder of the game, as Ward would tally three of her seven saves in the game in the second quarter. During that span, Princeton nearly doubled its score to take a 9-3 advantage into the third quarter. The Tigers capped off the game outscoring the Seahawks 5-3 in the final two quarters of play.
McBee and Zak led the offense with three goals in the game, while Rigler and Zwirner tallied a pair of goals each. Both Hooks and Rigler had four steals apiece of Princeton's 14 in the contest.
The Tigers will wrap up tournament action tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 19, with games versus Gannon at 11 a.m. and Siena at 5 p.m.
