Gross Named CWPA Southern Division Rookie of the Week
February 21, 2012 | Women's Water Polo
Princeton women's water polo freshman Kelly Gross was named the CWPA Southern Division Rookie of the Week, marking the second consecutive week a Tiger player has been recognized by the conference. Gross had a hand in all four Princeton wins at the Bucknell Invitational this past weekend and helped the No. 19 Tigers improve to 8-0 on the year.
Gross has started and played in all eight games this season and is coming off a six-goal performance at the weekend tournament. In addition to her standout scoring effort, the attacker also tallied six assists, four steals, two ejections drawn and a block.
Last week senior goalie Kristen Ward was named the Southern Division Defensive Player of the week.
The nationally-ranked Tigers next host Bucknell on Friday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m., before playing four games at the Princeton-hosted CWPA/MAAC Crossover from Feb. 25-26. At the two-day event, the Tigers will face Iona, Siena, Villanova and Wagner.
