Worthen Sets Heps Record with Third Ivy League Indoor Pole Vault Crown

ITHACA, N.Y. (2/25/12) - Junior Tory Worthen set an Ivy League Heptagonal and Princeton record as she won her third straight indoor pole vault title clearing 4.12 meters (13-6.25).
Worthen entered the meet with a season-best mark of 3.96 but knew she could do better with a personal best of 4.11, and proved just that today at Cornell. She cleared the 4.12 mark on her second attempt. No other vaulters in the field attempted anything higher than 3.90.
Princeton is in sixth place after day 1 with 16 points. Columbia is in the lead with 34 points with Harvard three points back. Dartmouth is in third with 29, Cornell and Brown are tied for fourth with 19. Yale is seventh and Penn eighth with four and three points, respectively.
The Tigers received four points from sophomore Theresa Devine in the 5,000. Devine posted a PR of 16:45.23 to finish in fourth place.
Sophomore Beth McKenna picked up two points in the pentathlon. She finished with 3,333 points to place fifth out of 16. McKenna earns Princeton's first points in the pentathlon since 2009.
Senior Eileen Moran has qualified for the finals of both the 60-meter dash and the 200. She ran the third-best time in both events, clocking in at 7.62 in the 60 and 24.88 in the 200.
Juniors Greta Feldman and Alexis Mikaelian will both run in the finals of the mile tomorrow. Sophomore Kacie O'Neil qualified for the finals of the 800 after running 2:10.34 in the preliminary round.
Freshman Teju Adewole looks to earn her first Heps points tomorrow in the 60m hurdles after qualifying with a time of 8.83.
Day 2 begins tomorrow at 11 a.m., with the women's high jump.
